al heighton
Al Heighton is a cheeky chap from South Yorkshire. He studied graphic design at the University of Salford; where he gravitated to illustration to make folk smile and for its immediacy in communication. Since he graduated in 2001 he has constantly worked as an illustrator in most fields. Al has produced work for the Arctic Monkeys "Favourite worst nightmare" album cover. He has produced numerous works for editorial clients including the Guardian for the sport section. He exhibits widely, and galleries include Castor and Pollux in Brighton and the Rowley Gallery in London. Al argues he still doesn't know the 'off side" rule in football. In 2005 Al was a runner up for "Creative Futures" in Creative Review. Al describes his work as sitting somewhere in between an adult world, the fashion world and a child's world often peppered with wit. His other passion includes cycling, reading, drinking tea and indeed thinking about his next piece of artwork...
