edouard benedictus: 'relais'
Benedictus is one of the most highly regarded of the artists who produced pochoir-printed sets of designs in the popular abstract and floral Art Deco manner. Several designs in the 'Relais' collection of 1930, which were published posthumously, depart from the lush floral and abstract patterns and include more obvious and representational elements, including vignette views. This work forms a scarce and highly important contribution to Art Deco design and was printed by J Saude.
